Love Gives Me Hope

Good Friday, everyone! (:

It’s been a lovely April for me and I hope it’s been smooth-sailing for you. However, I’ve had a rather bad day yesterday, the weather, some hiccups through the work day… you know how when you’re feeling down, small things just agitate your mood!

I was chatting with a friend, catching up with her life over MSN, when she sent me a link of this site: Love Gives Me Hope.

It reminds me of the old Chicken Soup for the Soul series of books, which was all the rage 8-10 years ago. Basically, sob stories which made you feel better about life and love and all that jazz. From my correspondence with Fashion Nation readers, I think there are a lot of happy-happy people as compared to cynical people reading this. So I think you’ll really enjoy it (:

The site shares stories from anonymous contributions about love and hope. The cute thing is, every story almost always end with the phrase ‘LGMH’, which is abbreviated from ‘Love Gives Me Hope’.

I’ve randomly picked a few to share:

“My Grandmother was diagnosed with cancer.

My mother took her to the beach before she got too sick. She loves the beach. Since she was too weak, my mother held her hand as they walked.

My grandmother said, “You know, it feels like just yesterday I was holding your hand so you wouldn’t fall.” LGMH”

I was on the bus on my way to the mall, when a homeless man sat next to me.

He saw that I was looking at the bouquet of flowers he held, and told me that they were for his wife because today is her birthday.

As he got off the bus, he walked into the cemetery and placed the flowers on his wife’s grave.

A love that never dies GMH.”

“I am a lesbian in a very small town in Texas.

Today, an older couple saw me holding hands with my girlfriend and stopped to tell us how beautiful we were together.

The man said, “Thank you for not being ashamed of who you are and showing that love sees no gender.”

His acceptance GMH.”

I hope there are loads of things in your life that gives you hope and even though work sucks and the weather sucks and the traffic sucks and your boss sucks and all, but hey, it’s Friday. (: Happy weekend!

Stephie.
